Who is Mimir?
The story of Mimir comes from Norse Mythology. Mimir was renowned for his knowledge and wisdom. His well, set beneath the world tree Yggdrasil, was the source of wisdom to which Odin sacrificed his eye. Odin also carried Mimir's head, often seeking counsel and secret knowledge from him.
We've chosen Mimir to represent the need for deep connection, wisdom, and the hard work healing often requires of us. Our goal is to create an organization that helps you connect to the depth of wisdom contained within while also providing counsel in times of need.
Our logo is a sigil combining runes representing self, knowledge, and journey—a representation of the work of therapy.
Norse Mythology Today
At Mimir Consulting, our name and imagery are drawn from Norse mythology and its rich symbolism of wisdom, transformation, and resilience. Figures like Mímir, the wise guardian who tended the Well of Knowledge beneath Yggdrasil, the great Tree of Life. In myth, Mímir represents the deep, often painful pursuit of insight—the willingness to confront truth and emerge transformed. For us, that story reflects the work of therapy: the courage to face what’s hidden, to seek understanding, and to grow through the process.
We also recognize that Norse symbols and mythology have been misused by white nationalist and extremist groups to promote exclusion and hate. Our use of this symbolism stands in direct rejection of those distortions. We reclaim these myths as part of a shared human heritage, belonging to no one culture, race, or ideology. Our practice is a celebration of myth’s universal power to speak to suffering, healing, and growth.
As a queer-owned, anti-racist practice, we are committed to inclusion, equity, and affirmation for all identities. The symbols we use are reinterpreted through this lens: the roots of Yggdrasil as interconnection, the Well of Mímir as deep self-reflection, and the quest for wisdom as an ongoing act of healing and integrity.
Our intention is to honor myth as a language of transformation; a reminder that healing often requires courage, sacrifice, and curiosity. The symbols we draw from Norse mythology are not about power over others, but about the shared human journey toward wisdom, wholeness, and authentic living.
